We’re Working with DHS to Improve Child Care Policies

Family child care providers successfully completed our first-ever union negotiations with the Department of Human Services!

In negotiations, an elected team of providers, representing every region of the state, met with top DHS officials to voice our concerns with the current child care system.

In a series of meetings, the negotiating team worked to reach an agreement with DHS that makes real improvements.

Last fall, providers elected our first negotiating team. Click here to see a list of  negotiating team members, and their contact information.

Based on surveys and conversations with providers, the negotiating team created a list of proposed improvements, and submitted it to the State. It includes, for example

  • A Bill of Rights for Child Care Providers

  • Review and Revision of the QRS with Provider Input

  • Improved Subsidy Rates and Regulations

  • Health Insurance Options for Providers
